Shades for days

Foundation is a must for a flawless look but finding the perfect match for your skin tone can be a painful and indeed costly experience.

Historically, shade ranges for deeper skintones have always been limited. Ask any woman of colour how often they've had to mix several shades to find a close complement! Yardie Cosmetics founder Santana Spence was one of those frustrated women. So exasperated was she with the process that she decided to add foundation to her already thriving make-up line.

"I created this foundation line to provide make-up lovers like myself with more foundation shade options... I am happy that I followed my intuition because my customers are very happy with the formula. They are pleased with how lightweight and natural the foundation feels on their skin," Santana explained.

"The name One People Foundation derives from our motto 'Out of many, one people' and pays homage to our culture. My hope is that, just like our small island is home to many races, creeds and cultures, One People Foundation will one day provide a wide range of shades for everyone of colour," she continued.

So, ladies, kiss blending to perfection goodbye, thanks to Yardie Cosmetics One People Foundation. The formula delivers the perfect natural velvet-matte finish that is not too dry and never shiny. Spence says her foundation won't cake, flake, or fade. What's more, the oil-free formula comes in 15 shades and is great for all skin types. The shades are divided into three groups based on undertones: Warm, cool, and neutral. And since knowing your undertone makes matching your foundation easier, Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) shares an easy guide below:

All about undertones

One of the quickest and the most common ways to determine your undertone is to check the insides of your wrist. If your veins appear blue or purple, you have a cool undertone. If they look green, you're warm. If you're having a hard time narrowing down between blue or green, you most likely have a neutral undertone.

Now let's get flawless

Foundations are the base upon which you build your entire make-up look. So creating a flawless base is key! Selecting the right application tools is important, and while we're not picking sides in the eternal make-up brush vs blending sponge debate, Spence recommends applying the One People Foundation with brushes from her Brushfruit Collection. The 20-piece brush set is made using premium quality synthetic hair fibres. Working with synthetic brushes if you're applying liquid foundation is a good choice because they're easier to sanitise and create a smooth, even finish.
